Retail real estate property owners are increasingly designing attractions and luring tenants that will help them target a very desirable demographic: Hispanics. In particular, this demographic is being cultivated to revive retail centers that are perceived as "dead" or struggling. "The market has been grappling with what to do with obsolete, underperforming malls," says Ryan Severino, an economist at Reis. "It's right to go after a group whose population and purchasing power are growing and offer a mall experience that can't be replicated on the Web."
