New technique to measure consciousness may help those with brain damage

Using a magnetic pulse that measures the brain's response, scientists can determine a person's level of consciousness, which could benefit patients suffering brain damage, according to a report in Science Translational Medicine. The technique, called the Perturbational Complexity Index, was developed by researchers at the University of Milan in Italy.
