New whistle-blower protections extend to employees of subcontractors

Employees of subcontractors that receive money from Defense Department contracts or grants are covered under a new federal whistle-blower law. The law, which became effective July 1, extends protections previously available only to those who work for prime contractors. "Subcontractors -- especially those who may not have counsel -- need to make sure they take this seriously," said government-contracting attorney Justin Ganderson.
