Record number of female directors get Emmy nominations

More female directors than ever before have been nominated for awards at this year’s Emmys in the directorial achievement category, but a significant gender gap remains in television production. Of the more than 3,100 episodes made for television in the 2011-2012 season, only 15% were directed by women, according to the latest data from the Directors Guild of America.
