Medical records gathered from 79 hospitals across 12 countries revealed six risk factors for identifying children at greater risk of suffering severe complications due to influenza. The risk factors included dehydration, breathing problems, need for oxygen therapy, heart rate above the normal age-based range, and history of conditions such as chronic lung disease, cerebral palsy and developmental delay. The findings were published in the British Medical Journal.
