AT&T eyes fallow spectrum for fixed broadband wireless service

AT&T will deploy a fixed broadband wireless network in spots where the telecom has unused spectrum, Chief Strategy Officer John Stankey told an investor conference on Wednesday. He said the move was contingent on government approval of AT&T's proposed deal to buy DIRECTV. Stankey also said the telecom wants to provide video and music content on as many screens as possible because that's what consumers are demanding.
