Job loss linked to more suicide attempts among U.S. teens

Survey data on 403,000 teens showed that the number of attempted suicides and other suicidal behaviors rose 2% to 3% among girls when 1% of workers within a state got laid off. Layoffs also had the same impact on black teens of both genders, according to the study published in the American Journal of Public Health.
