Texas textbook takes heat over evolution

Texas Freedom Network, a watchdog group that monitors the religious right, has criticized textbook publishing company Holt, Rinehart & Winston for changing a biology text under review for statewide use. The group objected to a passage advocating students consider alternative theories about the origin of life.
