Leavitt: Providers, others needed in "national conversation" for Medicare drug benefit

A "national conversation" is necessary to convince seniors and disabled people to enroll in the Medicare prescription drug program, U.S. secretary of Health and Human Services Michael Leavitt said last week. Everyone from pharmacists, doctors and caregivers to relatives and clergy should be involved in an effort to explain to Medicare recipients the benefits of the new program, offered through private insurers beginning Nov. 15.
