Data indicate increase in oil speculation

The Wall Street Journal reports that new data show speculators have played a larger role than previously recognized in the oil market. The increase of the number of crude oil futures and options contracts held by speculators -- from 38% to 49% -- marks a higher participation in the market, the newspaper says.
