Technologies work to better spot runway incursions

U.S. companies are pitching technology to Australian airports to help prevent runway incursions from small objects, including birds and squirrels that might get in the way of planes during takeoff or landing. One system, from QinetiQ Airport Technologies, relies largely on radar from a tower to monitor the runway for foreign objects and notifies airport personnel immediately of any problems.
