Researchers say hemp composite beats concrete, lumber

A composite material made from hemp and old plastic bottles is lighter than lumber but as strong as medium-strength concrete, researchers say. That could make it a valuable green-building material, scientists believe, especially in applications such as decking and bridges, where wood rot creates problems for lumber structures.
