Researchers at the University of Illinois are using an advanced DNA pyrosequencing technology to study the makeup of a healthy dog's intestinal system. They aim to create a healthy model that can be compared with diseased states. "It's a first step toward making progress in our understanding of how diet affects gastrointestinal infections," a researcher said.
