Sen. Feinstein to push for BPA ban in food-safety bill

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said Thursday she would offer, as an amendment to upcoming food-safety legislation, a ban on bisphenol A from children's food and beverage containers. This statement comes after the restrictions Feinstein requested on BPA were left out of the compromise bill announced by members of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. Meanwhile, industry groups said they would withdraw their backing if the bill would include a ban on BPA.
