Special-education teacher takes up international volunteerism

Kathy Boisvert, who teaches students with disabilities at a Massachusetts preschool, has spent three summers teaching students with special needs in Cape Town, South Africa, as part of a nonprofit program that pairs U.S. teachers with volunteer assignments in foreign schools. Volunteers with World Teach pay for their flights and lodging, but gain valuable experience to bring back to the classroom. "It's really an investment," Boisvert said, "It has changed my point of view."
