AT&T reports a spike in Wi-Fi usage

AT&T says the number of people using its remote Wi-Fi networks increased in the second quarter and is continuing to grow at a steady clip. According to data posted at SlashGear, there were 246.8 million connections to AT&T's Wi-Fi network last quarter, compared with 53.1 million in the first quarter of 2010. AT&T maintains Wi-Fi hot spots in retail locations and airports across the U.S., and offers free access to wireless customers with qualifying data plans.
