Ill. passes law to recycle more shingles into asphalt pavement

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has signed into law a measure that will allow old roofing shingles to be used for paving projects in the state. The legislation will require the state Department of Transportation to use shingles in its hot asphalt mix and encourage recycling facilities to divert more asphalt shingles from landfills.
