Shell regrets U.K. offshore oil spill, exec says

About 54,600 gallons of oil have leaked from Royal Dutch Shell's Gannet Alpha rig off the coast of Scotland, the company said. "We care about the environment and we regret that the spill happened," said Glen Cayley, technical director of the company's European exploration and production operations. The incident was minor compared with the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill, but it was still large for the U.K. continental shelf, according to the U.K. government.
