Breast cancer treatment appears safe for fetuses, study says

Babies born to mothers who received chemotherapy for breast cancer were no more likely to have birth defects than babies unexposed to the treatment, according to a study in the journal The Lancet. However, researchers said that chemotherapy during pregnancy was tied to lower birth weight and higher risk of premature birth.
