Mo. is lone holdout on prescription drug monitoring

Every state except Missouri has adopted a program to help curb prescription drug abuse, says White House Office of National Drug Control Policy Director Gil Kerlikowske. A bill to monitor sales of commonly abused drugs stalled in that state's Senate after Republican Sen. Rob Schaaf, a physician, opposed it on the grounds that it would violate patients' privacy rights.
