631 projects to get funding assistance under REAP

The Department of Agriculture has chosen 631 renewable energy and energy-efficiency projects to receive a total of more than $21 million in funding under the Rural Energy for America Program. In the past four years, the program has funded nearly 7,000 projects, said Doug O'Brien, acting USDA undersecretary for rural development. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said REAP and other programs like it underscore the importance of a farm bill with energy programs intact.
