ACI study finds low environmental risk from detergent ingredient

An American Cleaning Institute study of alcohol ethoxylates, used in detergents and personal care products, found they pose little risk to the environment. The study, which looked at three streams, found the compounds "degrade readily," this article says. They don't bioaccumulate or create health hazards, according to study author Kathleen Stanton, ACI's director of technical and regulatory affairs.
