British and Australian students have developed an innovative prosthetic limb designed for high-performance aquatic sports and beach activities, including running on soft sand and playing beach volleyball, surfing and swimming. The Murr-ma, with a flexible carbon-fiber spine, features a split-toe design that efficiently channels water and reduces drag; studs for better balance on sand; and fins that provide extra thrust when the wearer is swimming.
