Cost is one factor prompting some firms to flee the cloud

Cloud-based technology might seem to be all the rage at the moment, but some companies have opted to move away from the cloud and set up their own servers. "Within IT departments, public clouds do tend to get more expensive over time, especially when you reach a certain scale," said Kit Colbert, an engineer with VMware.
