The New York Times' website went blank for a few hours on Wednesday, so the newspaper took to publishing updates on Twitter and Facebook instead. That shows the degree to which decentralized online publishing and social media use have become "charmingly pedestrian" for modern news organizations, Robinson Meyer writes.
