Federal government offers extensions to states lagging on teacher evaluations

Washington, Oregon and Kansas still have not developed teacher and principal evaluation forms that meet federal standards, but the U.S. Department of Education is giving the states one more year to have acceptable plans in place. Oregon is piloting a few different evaluation systems, and education officials there say they want the results of those pilot projects back before selecting a system for the whole state.
