The federal government on Wednesday released $67 million in funding to support the efforts of navigators across states with federally run exchanges. Some states are investing millions of dollars in advertising and hiring navigator programs to explain health insurance marketplaces to customers. In others, where funding is being provided by the federal government, spending is limited. In those states especially, the efforts of insurance agents and brokers, as well as insurers themselves, will play a key role in enrolling new customers when the Affordable Care Act exchanges open this fall.
