Ala. district seeks to expand breakfast program with free meals

A Alabama district had about 36% participation in its breakfast program last year. In an effort to double participation this school year, the district will offer free breakfasts to all students. "If we increase our breakfast numbers, we'll have less tardies, better attendance and less visits to the school nurse," said Brindlea Griffin, the district's child-nutrition director.
