Japanese robot-exoskeleton approved for European market

Japan-based Cyberdyne's advanced exoskeleton system, known as the Hybrid Assistive Limb suit, or HAL, has been approved for sale as a medical device in Europe by a German certification agency. HAL, which uses nerve impulses to augment strength and movement, can play a valuable role as an assistive medical device for the elderly or disabled.
