LGBT Russians can seek asylum in Canada, official says

Russians seeking to escape persecution related to the country's anti-LGBT "propaganda" law can seek asylum in Canada. Canadian immigration Minister Chris Alexander, who oversees the country's refugee board, said Monday that claims "related to this particular issue will of course be looked at very seriously by our very generous system." Between 140 and 225 Russians typically seek refugee status in Canada each year.
