Microsoft's sound-based Dhwani technology could take place of NFC

Microsoft has developed a creative alternative to near-field communication technology that enables mobile users to transmit and receive small amounts of data over short ranges using their smartphone's built-in microphone and speaker. The technology, dubbed Dhwani, is designed to support low-capacity, 2.4 Kbps data transfers such as digital wallet transactions, is unaffected by ambient noise and comes with a security feature known as Jamsecure that keeps your data from falling into the wrong hands.
