Ohio aerospace industry adds more than $8 billion annually to economy

Mike Heil, president and CEO of the Ohio Aerospace Institute, touts the state as a leader in aerospace research and development. He says the industry provides more than 130,000 jobs, and the R&D at Wright Patterson Air Force Base alone makes a $5 billion impact on the state's economy. Added to that is $1.3 billion from the NASA Glenn Research Center and an estimated $2.13 billion from parts manufacturing. A number of academic institutions are expanding aerospace research and education as well.
