Report: Verizon delays Canadian deals as it mulls spectrum auction

Verizon Communications is said to be delaying its bids for Canadian wireless firms Wind Mobile and Mobilicity while it mulls over taking part in the country's spectrum auction. Meanwhile, Canadian private equity firm Birch Hill Equity Partners has registered to lobby the government over wireless carriers. Sources say Birch may want to compete for the two smaller carriers and try to block Verizon from entering the Canadian market.
