If the pattern of post-World War II recession holds, U.S economic expansion is due to last for two or more years longer, according to The Economist. However, Olivier Blanchard of the International Monetary Fund warns that the economy now fluctuates between normal and abnormal, suggesting that the lessons of the past many not tell us much about the future.
