Study: Small practices have fewer preventable hospital admissions

A study published in Health Affairs found medical practices with just one or two physicians had 33% fewer preventable hospital admissions when compared with practices that have from 10 to 19 physician members. The study team said medical groups and hospitals considering physician practice purchases should consider the value of preserving a small-practice environment.
