WPC wants to bring wireless charging to kitchen appliances

An update to the Wireless Power Consortium Qi standard will support charging larger kitchen appliances such as blenders and food processors so they would not require sustained energy charges -- namely cords, the WPC said. The new standard supports resonant chargers which can supply power from inside or below a counter, according to the WPC, which expects the devices to reach consumers within two years.
