Education alternatives break out of traditional molds

Some experts fear that the growth of home schooling, charters and cyber-schools will cause more students to miss out on the opportunity to mix socially with a diverse group of peers. University of Michigan education professor Jeffrey Mirel believes that despite the pervasiveness of technology in everyday life, online and distance learning never will replace traditional methods of instruction.
