Safeway recalls green onions over safety concerns

Routine testing of green onions sold in some Safeway and Pak 'n Save stores in Northern California and Western Nevada has uncovered early signs of salmonella contamination, prompting a recall of the product sold between Aug. 3 and 7. No illnesses connected to the onions have been reported. "Safeway's first concern is the health and safety of our customers," a Safeway executive said.
