Two Illinois districts reject Title 1 funds

Two Chicago-area school districts -- Consolidated High School District 230 and Township High School District 211 -- have declined a combined total of $136,000 in federal Title 1 grants connected to the No Child Left Behind Act. The move means the districts will not have to comply with some of the law's stricter provisions. The districts said the funds came with too many strings attached and that rejecting the funds actually would save money.
