Construction material prices climb despite slowing PPI

Although the producer price index slowed to a 0.1% increase in July, construction material costs reached a 0.7% increase from 0.3% in June, according to Ken Simonson, chief economist for The Associated General Contractors of America. "Construction materials costs heated up in July, even as other producers eased up on price increases," he said.
