Downtown Manhattan mosque aims for LEED standards

A new mosque planned for downtown Manhattan could be the nation's first mosque to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental design standards. The project, known as Park51, will go up near the World Trade Center -- a choice that has caused a political firestorm -- and the building will be designed with environmental concerns in mind, in part to highlight the little-known connection between Islamic teachings and environmentalism.
