KCS to demolish defunct locomotive maintenance facility

Kansas City Southern plans to demolish an old brick locomotive maintenance building in Pittsburg, Kan., because of its risk for fire and flooding. A local economic leader said the demolition could pave the way for new development, including recruiting manufacturers that require rail service, in the area. KCS owns the 100-acre property and rail lines linking Pittsburg to Kansas City.
