When the owner of a boutique executive-search and -recruiting firm died without a succession plan, his son stepped up and saved the small business, which had faltered during his father's illness. Ty Anderson broadened the company's focus in some areas and narrowed it in others. Now he expects revenue will top $1 million this year -- about twice what it was in 2009.
