Marcellus gas output in Pa. rises in first half of year

Natural gas production from the Marcellus Shale formation in Pennsylvania increased to 1.87 billion cubic feet per day in the first half of 2011, up 22% from the second half of last year, according to the state's Department of Environmental Protection. Oil output, meanwhile, rose to 9,338 barrels per day as drillers focused more on oil and liquids, the agency said.
