Taiwanese government budgets $413 million for IC design

The government of Taiwan is budgeting $413 million over five years to help boost the island nation's integrated-circuit design capabilities. Taiwan's electronics industry plans to use the funds to increase spending on research and development, especially for designing semiconductors in automotive, consumer electronics, green-energy equipment, medical equipment and mobile-phone applications.
