East Coast Brokers' auction brings in $48.7 million

The first auction of farmland and tomato assets from Mulberry, Fla.-based East Coast Brokers and Packers, which ceased operations last fall and filed for bankruptcy protection in March, raised $48.7 million from nine high bidders. Three future auctions will include three packing houses, two cold storage facilities, equipment, and more land and real estate holdings.
