N.Y. teacher uses annual trips for authentic professional development

Summer trips can be used to recharge, connect with others and participate in authentic professional development. That's the approach of Rajiv Mahajan, who since 2006 has been teaching French at The Baccalaureate School for Global Education in New York. Mahajan writes in this commentary that trips to France and Belgium have helped him develop more engaging and interesting classes for students. "When in France, I am no longer the French expert in the room," Mahajan writes.
