Student-interns work with General Motors retirees to clean, refurbish Detroit park

Interns with the General Motors Student Corps teamed up with company retirees and local residents to clear tall grass, weeds and debris from Detroit's Gordon Park. The project -- which included the installation of benches, a pergola and small stage -- was one of several community-service efforts that were planned, budgeted and executed this summer by the high-school interns, who were mentored by GM retirees and local college students about life skills, financial management and other subjects.
