Most Virginia schools hit NCLB targets

For the first time since NCLB was enacted, Virginia as a state met federal standards, with 80% of its schools making "adequate yearly progress" this year. The U.S. Education Department earlier ruled the state could have only 65% of all students pass in reading and 63% pass in math, rather than the previously-set 70% benchmark for both subjects.
