Detroit focuses dollars on gaming

Detroit's three major casinos are spending a total of $1.5 billion on new hotels and casino expansion, hoping luxury rooms and convention space bring Detroit Vegas-like tourism. MGM Grand Detroit, opening in the fall, will feature a $765 million complex with a resort spa and 17-story hotel, while Greektown Casino is spending $475 million to expand, and MotorCity Casino will put $275 million into its new hotel project.
